What does the role of production designer entail?
A production designer is responsible for the overall look of a production, design and feel of it. They talk a lot to directors in order to discuss the feel of the production by creating and finding the right locations and sets.
During a production, which other members of the production and which other areas of the production does the production designer co-ordinate with?
-They have no authority over other members in the project. This means that they work with costume designers, lighting workers and they all work together to create a better product. 
They also work with the Graphic designer to make the props and sets look better 

What issues with locations can occur during the production of a TV drama?
Scouting is so important as many of the locations fall through meaning that they have to look for other similar locations. Also most of the places were public meaning that they couldn't close them to film. Most of the props and items in for example in the Castle they filmed couldn't  be used or moved as they were too fragile meaning that they had to either cover them up or just avoid using them in the shots. Locations are so important because they need to find the most realistic location as possible.

What skills, education and experience is it beneficial for a production designer to have?
Depends on the project, but having as much experience in the field as possible the better. Also having an art qualificaition helps with the job and also just having an artsy background gives it a boost.  Its very hard to get into and understand all the different areas to work in as production designer because there are so many different parts to the job. Getting into training and skill set courses or a week of volunteering to get a better understanding of the industry will also help massively.

During the production process itself, where are the working locations that a production designer tends to work and how do these relate to the actual filming of the TV drama?
Locations have to match and be easily accessible, but matching visions and sets you want to use. The locations that are sketched and usually drawn out by the production designer.

Market Research- Road safety computer game

Road safety computer game brief- how would you complete market research for this brief? For this brief one could use both questionnaires and focus groups. Questionnaires  are highly suitable as the agate brief is targeted at is 6-10. Questionnaires are easy to measure and can be completed quickly  which is suitable as 6-10 year olds could potentially lose their concentration extremely quickly. Focus groups are also highly suitable as you get more in depth answers from the group as they are all discussed together meaning you also get a wide range of detailed responses. This is also carried out in person meaning it is more likely to get a suitable response.
